Saturday: January 15, 2011 from 1pm-5pm

a one day book event of artistic publications
Studio2Gallery and guest illustrator and artist, Nathan Jensen, invite you to see creative artworks through books by multiple regional artists including: Rama Tiru, Brad Closson, Carol Schirald and more! Buy a book and support an artist. A great way to start the New Year with printed treasures to enhance your library and make your coffee table proud!
Join us for a special presentation featuring Nathan Jensen, discussing his illustrated books for children at 1pm.
Nathaniel P. Jensen is the juggler of an array of artistic pursuits. He paints on buildings. He paints on large 3-dimensional canvases. He illustrates for magazines and newspapers. He has animated for television and feature films. He is a web designer. He is a children’s book illustrator. He’s the father of two boys and the husband of a beautiful art historian.
His artistic path has been an adventure of great opportunity and achievement. Jensen graduated from the University of Texas in 1991 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. With pennies from a childhood piggybank, he created business cards and went into business as a freelance artist. He’s been working steadily overtime ever since. See: www.natespace.com
By far, the pursuit of being a children’s book illustrator is Jensen’s favorite. The work is an enjoyable puzzle and process for him. It’s a chance to be softer. The post production pleasures of meeting the children who enjoy his books take him ever higher.
“Rattlesnake Rules” is the 4th book written by Conrad J. Storad which Jensen has served as illustrator for. Previous books include: “Don’t Ever Cross that Road – An Armadillo Story”, “Life in the Slow Lane – A Desert Tortoise Tale”, and “Desert Night Shift – A Packrat Story”.

Black and Orange with Vintage Starburst Brooch by Deborah Main Designs:
"One of our first LUXE VIP creations! This stunning pillow was so fun to make with its fabulous texture and boudoir appeal. Made from a wonderful black silk brocade splashed with orange peonies, and backed with a sheer pattern of silk chiffon ruffles, this truly decadent pillow speaks volumes of elegance. It is accentuated by a circle of jet black feathers surrounding and presenting the ultimate in 1950's jewelry design – a fabulous starburst brooch gleaming with Aurora-borealis rhinestones. Someone truly special deserves this work of art! As always, our feather and down-filled pillows are handmade one-of-a-kind creations. Enjoy!
We are pleased to have award winning Deborah Main Designs back with us after her 1st appearance at our trunk show almost 7 years ago. Since that time, Deborah has been busy making herself one of Austin's most desirable home accessory artisans and sells her custom pillows in high end boutiques all over the United States.
Mae-Mae Stiles will also have her unique jewelry of vintage, crystal, and semi-precious materials. Studio2Gallery has carried Mae-Mae's designs for several years and she always delights with new concepts and fun materials. Mae Mae participates at our local Austin Farmer's Market and sells her designs at many artisan gallery gift shops and boutiques.
You'll never think about plastic recycling the same once you feast your eyes on purses created by Circe Torosian. The youngest designer (maybe ever?) featured at Austin Fashion Week, she wowed the crowd with her recycled plastic designer dresses. As if that was not enough, she has designs her own purses to complete the ensemble. Buy a work of art and keep the planet green. All of these clutches and totes are made from used plastic shopping bags woven through plastic mesh. One clutch uses five to ten plastic bags, and a tote requires around 100 bags that would have otherwise been thrown away. Look closely, and you may recognize bags from some of your favorite stores! You can always have a custom clutch made, or request a color scheme. Custom orders welcome!
Circe's dresses are featured at 6:19 on this video:
When you want a special piece of jewelry that will make people forget what you are wearing, you can't go wrong with Beth McElheney Personal Adornments. Beth has been working on some spectacular new pieces that will have you singing "hallelujah" when you wear them to your holiday parties.
One of our favorite picks for the holiday shopping artwork find? Fiber art from award winning, Oscar Silva. Oscar has been featured at many Studio2Gallery events over the years, at numerous Art Festivals, and art galleries that always clamor to have him back. Come in and see why.
